    RISD press was a student newspaper published weekly in the early 1970s, a self-described attempt at consolidating all the information outlets of the school, including the previous student newspaper, Montage. The issue of January 11, 1974 included an article about a fire at the Farnum House dorm and the fact that the fire extinguishers were useless. It was a small fire and no-one was injured. Wintsersession began with many students taking travel courses. The Carr House coffee house was established. The issue of April 8, 1973 had contained an article about students confronting Dean Lay, RISD Dean of Students with a petition of 500 students signatures to keep Harry Beckwith as faculty in the Graphic Design department. 100 students met with Dean Lay on March 28, 1973. Also, there was an interview with Dean Lay and an article about planning for COLAB 4.     The Designer was a student newspaper published in 1942. Three issues remain today. The first two issues are written by typewriter on loose sheaves of paper. The issue of March 1, 1942 included information about club activities, art exhibitions, and student council notes. There were some speakers and activities that were related to World War II and the home front.
